The Savage Night
Terminally ill boy genius
To the outside world, Dov Neiman, the child genius with an IQ exceeding Einstein’s and Ph. D.‘s in Mathematics and Physics, died in New York City at age 19 from Cystic Fibrosis. He left behind two grieving parents and unknown potential. His body (or whoever’s it was) was cremated, and the ashes were scattered across the grounds of MIT, his Alma Mater – because that’s what he would have wanted.
In truth, he was Embraced by his great-great-grandmother, Lidia, who had watched over her living descendants since her own Embrace in 1941. They moved west together, leaving behind everything and everyone he’d ever known, to San Francisco. Trying his best to “fit in”, he has joined up with the Carthians, despite Lidia’s contempt.
As is characteristic of people with Asperger Syndrome, Dov has significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, although his vampirism has mitigated the physical clumsiness that afflicted him as a mortal.
